Enveloping Darkness is the fourth and last in a series that I did for my senior exhibit at Oklahoma State University in 2010.  It is a thread painted portrait of my mother when she was about 82 years old.   By that time the Alzheimer’s disease had enveloped her mind in darkness and was slowly deteriorating her body as well.   It is about 16″ x 24″ and is appliqued onto a pieced background.
