Denny took me to New York City for a few days before Christmas. This is a photo of Times Square at night. I’ve never been to New York City before and had a wonderful time. We went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art where I got to see lots of paintings – many of which I had just studied about in my Baroque Art History class – some Rembrandt’s, Vermeer, Velazquez, de Hooch and many many others. It was impossible to take it all in in only one day. Then we went to see the Statue of Liberty and Chinatown, and I had my first subway ride in NYC. We were there when the first snow storm of ’09 hit and they got almost 12 inches of snow. Denny loved it! I was okay with it. I’m not a good snow bunny. 🙂 We went to the American Museum of Natural History which was also quite awesome! We did lots of shopping and spent 6 days together which we haven’t been able to do in a long time. It was a great trip and we were both glad to be home. Denny decided to drive all the way through once we left so we were in the car about 22-23 hours. I only drove a total of about 3 hours the whole trip – going up and coming home. But it was great to get back home and into my routines. I’ve become such a home body. I love it!
Now we are getting our first snow fall here for this year. It’s Christmas Eve. Jillian was supposed to go to Texas to spend the Christmas holiday with Robbie and his family however the roads have just gotten treacherous so she’s coming here instead. I’m sorry for her to not get to be with Robbie but I’m happy that she’s going to be with us on Christmas morning! It will be the last time she will get to do that before they get married next fall. Actually Denny went to Stillwater to pick her up and it’s a good thing he did because the snow is blowing hard and it’s getting worse! So…we’ll have a white Christmas after all.
